About LPTMM 2026

Theme: From measurements to meaning: standards driven light pollution metrology, marking 20 years of Ensenada’s 2006 sky protection regulation
Topics for contributed papers include

LPTMM brings together researchers, practitioners, and policy stakeholders working across the full chain of artificial light at night (ALAN): from radiative transfer and atmospheric optics, to measurement protocols and instrumentation, to modelling and mapping, and finally to ecological, health, cultural, and astronomical impacts and workable mitigation. The 2026 edition is hosted in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, at the Institute of Astronomy, UNAM — Ensenada (IA-UNAM Ensenada), a key hub in a regional ecosystem of scientific institutions and protected dark-sky environments.

Across four days, LPTMM 2026 will feature keynote and invited talks, contributed presentations, a poster session with poster pitches, hands on workshops, and round tables plus an optional overnight technical visit (selected group) to the National Astronomical Observatory, San Pedro Mártir (OAN–SPM), UNAM.
